While in the Humane Society, they told us he would mark up everything, and had certain behavioral issues we'd have to try to work out. We brought him home...not a drop of pee has been on these floors! He (in our minds) is the perfect dog! Not too big, not to small. Just perfect. He doesn't bark, chew, beg for table food..nothing. We definitely got spoiled and lucked out with him!
Thinking that it could be our demeanor (yeah right!), we decided to help MORE dogs...by fostering. I'm not an expert or anything, because we are currently fostering our first puppy. Day 3 so far. What a job! From chewing, barking, and the WHINING! Wow! I knew what to expect, but this was unheard of. Unfortunately, when we got Johnny, my wife was in Calgary for a business trip. So it was me and the boys! Let's just say my hair went a lot more grey...and I'm 28!
This being the 3rd night, Johnny has taken form as being as sweet as he is cute. He is voluntarily going in his crate...occasionally sits on command...and is great on the leash. I'm trying not to get too attached to him as he IS up for adoption. Mornings like today, I couldn't have been happier to see him find another family...but nights like tonight..it's going to be hard. With a little patience and a lot of love, he's the pooch that most people would melt for.
So if you would like to come down to PetSmart (North end Edmonton, on 137th ave, next to Best Buy) on Saturday, September 26, from 11-2...stop by for a BBQ at Adoption Day! You will see Johnny there with his brothers, and many other dogs rescued from the Humane Animal Rescue Team (hart). Unfortunately I can't be there (got a wedding to go to), but Johnny will be there to say hi to everyone!
